First Parish Congregational UCC

About Us

Welcome to First Parish Church!
Our Mission Statement is: “First Parish Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, is a community of faith built upon a firm foundation of worship, prayer and education. In affirming diversity, we are dedicated to welcoming all people who seek the Word of God, Christian fellowship and service to others. In partnership with Christ and led by the Holy Spirit, we reach out to the ever-widening community through active and loving ministry.”
Founded by Scotch-Irish Presbyterians in April 1719, First Parish Church is the oldest church in the area. As an “Open and Affirming” church in a theologically progressive tradition, we follow the example of Jesus. We share the Good News, feed the hungry and welcome the stranger. Jesus often used images and symbols. He was not a literalist – nor are we. Just like the extravagant welcome of Jesus Christ, we believe that no matter who you are or where you’ve come from–you are welcome among us!
We are a Mission driven church financially supporting many local agencies and beyond. We take Christian Faith Education seriously. Children attend worship with us at our “prayground” and we offer many enrichment programs. Adults enjoy Bible and book studies and retreats. Music is a vital and integral part of our worship experience.
We are honoring our history and our future as we undergo a major rehabilitation of our historical Meetinghouse. We offer space to non-profits such as Boy & Girl Scouts and Alcoholics Anonymous. We open our facilities for rentals upon request and approval.
